Our Bone Mineral Density Rod Phantoms are precision-engineered calibration standards designed for accurate and reproducible assessment of bone density in CT and Micro CT imaging systems. Manufactured using high-quality calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) materials embedded within a stable matrix, these phantoms provide reliable reference points for quantitative bone mineral density (BMD) analysis.
Each phantom set includes paired rods with defined mineral concentrations of 0.3 g/cm³ and 1.25 g/cm³ CaHA, enabling calibration across a clinically and preclinically relevant density range. The rods are available in multiple diameters to accommodate a wide variety of specimen sizes, from small animal models to human-scale imaging.
Specification:
Small Diameter Set (2 mm – 4 mm)
Designed for high-resolution imaging of small specimens:
- 2 mm rods: Ideal for very small bones such as mouse models
- 4 mm rods: Suitable for small animal studies including rat bones
- Enables precise calibration in micro-CT systems with fine voxel sizes
Medium Diameter Set (8 mm – 16 mm)
Versatile option for mid-sized specimens:
- Suitable for bones from rabbit, sheep, and human samples
- Balances resolution and signal for standard CT and micro-CT applications
- Ideal for translational research and preclinical studies
Large Diameter Set (32 mm)
Optimised for larger anatomical structures:
- Designed for human and large animal bones, including vertebrae
- Provides robust signal and uniformity in clinical CT environments
- Ensures accurate BMD calibration at larger field-of-view settings
